PUNK: DOCUMENTING THE 1980s SUBCULTURE

A 254 page photography book featuring the birth of the most exciting cultural phenomenon in Canadian history.

Growing up in Kensington Market, Toronto I was privileged to be involved in the punk subculture and scene - living and working with some of the most integral punk bands and artists in Canada. Over the past few years, there have been many successful books published about us and our music, but I felt our own personal story was missing. I began this project as a labour of love, compiling and editing hundreds of photos that document our personal history in a movement that influenced generations to come.

ART + CLOTHING IN SUPPORT OF WOMEN

Powerful and subversive, the Gang Gang Girl clothing line was created to uplift women, from a feminist viewpoint. Because of the line’s niche nature, I never thought that it would be successful in a fiscal sense. However, real art is never about making money. As a philanthropic art project, it was close to my heart and something I very much wanted to create. A percentage of all profits were donated to survivors of sexual and domestic violence - important charities that I felt were integral to women’s healing, especially in the wake of movements like ‘Me Too’ that have forever changed the dynamics in our society. With all jackets and t-shirts now almost sold out, the project has been a triumphant success. I’m proud to have shared this endeavor with women around the world.
